My races
2010 races are here.
I am planning to do the following races this year (2009):
I did this last year in 1 hour 34 minutes 58 seconds. It would be good to go under 1 hour 30 minutes this year. But I think I need a lot more practice to get there.
I did this in 1 hour 30 mins 22 seconds and was very pleased with how I did. My report is here.
This is nearly an Olympic distance race on 3 May 2009. I did it in 2007 in 2 hours 24 minutes 19 seconds. Hopefully, I’ll do better this year.
I did this in 2 hours 14 minutes and 2 seconds, so an improvement of just over 10 minutes. The real story for me though was that I did this race the day after a really long bike ride/run. Here is my race report.
This is my “A” race. It is quite a challenging race and so I don’t have any times goals. My goal is to race to the best of my abilities. So I’ve got a process goal. I want to race to my race plan. I want to concentrate on what I am doing all the way through. I want to do well. But I don’t care what time appears on the clock at the end.
Fantastic race. I loved it! Here’s my race report.
I did this last year and really enjoyed it. I did well, especially on the swim and I’d like to do that again. I did it in 2 hours 25 minutes 10 seconds. I’d like to improve on that this year. However, it comes three weeks after Lanzarote and so I may feel a little achy.
My race report is here. I was a little disappointed to be 6 seconds slower this year – maybe not recovered from Lanza yet.
I’ve entered the Andover Triathlon on the 19 July 2009. This is a pool based, 440m swim, 30k bike and 7k run.
I came third in my age group! My race report is here. 5 seconds quicker and I would have been second in my age group.
British Triathlon National Club Relay Championship
I am doing this with people at work. It is sprint distance and involves all four people doing each leg in turn.
I pulled out of this at the end of July because I tore my calf muscle.
A 400m pool swim, 20k bike and 5k run on 30 August 2009. This was my first triathlon ever. I did it in 1 hour 20 minutes in 2005 and then 1 hour 9 minutes last year.
The race got cancelled at short notice for “health & safety” reasons.
A 750m open water swim, a 20k bike and a 5k run on 6 September 2009. This is a new one for me.
Turned out well and was pleased with how I did. Came 39th out of 485 (8th percentile). My race report is here.
New Forest Middle Distance Race
This is another new one for me. There was a cancellation slot going so it seemed foolish not to take it. Or perhaps it was foolish to take it as I still have a sore calf?
Fantasically well organised race. Really enjoyed it until I got a fair way into the run. Them my feet hurt and I struggled a lot on the hills. I did 5:43 in the end after slowing on the run. My race report is here.
Yet another new one for me. After I finished the New Forest Middle Distance race, it seemed like a good idea.
Not done this before but seems like a laugh!
This is a 5k run being pulled by a dog. Last year I did the beginners one (and won it!). This year we go for the proper race. Not sure whether to go with Sparkie (last year’s winner) or Tango (run Forrest run).
There will be a few more races to come but I just haven’t decided which ones.
