Food poisoning – no training

I have felt very poorly over the last couple of days.  The only exercise was 13 minutes of swimming.  I went to a fish restaurant for a work meeting in the evening and had a shared “fisherman’s platter” (lots of different bits of fish) and then a prawn/scallop main course.  Next morning I felt a bit hot and head-achy.  It got worse after my attempt at a swim.  At lunch time I went home and spent five hours in bed but got no sleep.  Then the night time was horrible.  No sleep at all, getting up every twenty minutes or so.  Next day I got up, for five minutes, and then went back to bed again until after lunch.  Not good.  Today I had an important meeting at work and as soon as that was over, I came home and went to bed again.   Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I did the 127 mile” magnificat” bike ride at the weekend.  Well, I started it.  The weather was appalling so I cut it short and just did the 81 mile route.

Summer fun – run every day in the summer

So, I have seen a running coach and had my running style re-engineered.  Hopefully this will avoid the pain in the ironman run.  I’ll post more about that later but for now the plan is to run frequently for as long as I can concentrate.  Some days I have ran 2 x 5 mins, others 3 x 10 mins and 2 x 15 mins.  Some days I have ran twice.  I’ll keep doing that until my technique becomes second nature.  Then I will increase the distance and speed gradually.

The plan, therefore, is to run for at least 20 minutes every day in June, July and August.
