I did a 5k swim this morning. It was a bit slower than normal but I went in the Tadley pool which was 29 degrees. Quite hot!
Session was:
500m warm up
5x200m on 3:30
500m pull with paddles
10x100m on 1:45
500m pull with paddles
10x50m on 1:10
500m pull with paddles
5x100m IM
That’s how I feel at the moment. The last four weeks has been exactly what I did not want in terms of ironman training. I have been busy at work, having to travel quite regularly and also do early morning presentations to lots of people. These went well, but training opportunities disappeared.
Then last week we moved back and that was a lot of hassle. Getting up early to start sorting things for the removal people, packing the car, emptying the car, going to the charity shop, going to the dump, tidying the old house, buying bits and pieces, being somewhere for the inventory check, being somewhere else for a gardener or a builder, the frustrations of trying to organise the phone and broadband. The move was also stressful. The people in the house we moved back to had promised a professional clean and a professional carpet clean beforehand. Did they do it? No. Did they smoke? Yes – probably a couple of thousand cigarette ends thrown in the back garden. Literally, that many. Not just a couple of hundred.
Eating has gone well. Not. I have had more junk food than even I thought possible. Weight has gone up big time.
Reading this it sounds like it is all bad. But it is not. Two weeks ago I did some great rides to work. Last weekend I felt very good riding 140k in 5 hours. The weather was beautiful and I now have a proper cyclist’s suntan. This morning I did an easy short run with Sparkie and that was nice too.
