I am sitting on the grass at Wimbleball. The bike is racked, the bags are put away and I have nothing to do. Actually, I need to buy a battery for my bike computer. I tried a few places on the way down but no one had the right one.
With all the stopping for batteries on the way down, and a late start, I missed the swim practice but I did run a lap of the course. That was quite useful as I decided to stick to my old shoes rather than the new ones.
It seems that everything is broken. Over the last week, the following have broken down:
- washing machine: replaced
- microwave: glowing orange and sparking – replaced
- lawn mower: not going more than a yard or two: bodged
- pc: won’t boot, cd rom disconnected
- iphone: died at the weekend.
I am alright but nowhere near as fit as I was last year.
I did a club TT on Friday and was a minute or so slower than in 2008. My average power had gone down by 6%.
Yesterday I officially did my longest ride back from work. 1 Hour 36 mins! I averaged 23 kph. Going to work I averaged just over 30kph. Why the difference? We live at the top of a big hill, there was a gusty head wind all the way home and it was raining. And I was tired. And I am not as fit as before. But then I’ve already mentioned that.
Anyway, I am off for a swim…
