Most of my running is done by myself. But today I went with a group of eight others.
It started at a BBQ. Someone said that her husband does a bit of running and that he goes on Sunday mornings. I got an e-mail from him saying that they were going to do 15 miles. Oh, that’s more than a little jog.
So, this morning I turned up at 7:30am. It was raining. Some others turned up but the rain didn’t stop. The route was mainly off road and quite hilly. I did quite well. Stayed with the front runners for most of the way round. Then, two miles from the end the pace started to pick up. Then my left knee started feeling a bit sore and I fell back 100m or so from the front guys.
All in all, I did 25.35km in 2 hours 14 minutes. We stopped or went slow a few times for people to catch up and it was quite hilly. I was quite chuffed how I did, but a little disappointed with my knee.
25 April 2010 Run
I’ve had a couple of swims in my wetsuit over the last two weeks to make sure it is still ok. It was. And I swim faster with it. Much faster.
I did 1,500m in 24:46 without, working hard, being paced by someone in the next lane. Then the next week I did it in 22:14 but pacing myself. That’s 152s quicker. Just over 10s per 100m quicker with the wetsuit.
I also had a go at a fast 100m. 1:24 first. Next week 1:14 in a wetsuit. Again 10s per 100m quicker again.
This ties in with what I thought last year. Then I thought I was 40s per 400m quicker. I still do.
A nice evening tonight. The sun was out and it was dry, so I cut the grass. It took a while to get used to the new mower but when I did, it got fun. Sounds strange, I know. But I’ve always wanted a ride on lawn mower. Going fast around corners was good.
This weeks has been ok exercise wise. Not brilliant but ok. I did something everyday, but not enough biking.
Eating was pretty poor though.
I need a bench to sit on. The sun’s just come out and all is well in the gravel dog area of the new house. The chickens aren’t in sight so the dogs are relaxed. Every now and then they hear a pheasant. Sparkie’s ears twitch and he looks for a while. Then he carries on.
This morning I did 90 mins easy on the turbo. Not hard. Not difficult. But ok.
The rest of the day has been moving stuff from one place to another. And taking the dogs for a walk.
So, the 100 in ten weeks died a death. First, Sainsbury’s reduced the price of their Easter eggs to £1 each. Seemed foolish not to buy them and eat them. Then I saw this house for let. Some how decided to look at it. Then look at it again. And then decide to rent it. Then we moved in. In between I had sleepless nights, ate a lot and did little training. I did build a lot of fences and did lots of DIY.
The DIY is still on going but I am back training. Hurray!
